WOW Another Letter of Appreciation

I don't know if any words could describe the amount of happiness that filled my heart when I found out that I was the WOW scholarship winner for 2011. I am a full time student pursing a BFA in Dance and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee while raising my two year old son.

This past year was very difficult for me because many days I went right from school to work and didn't get to see my son. I commute, and most of the time I would have to leave class and literarily run down the stairs and out the door to make it to my bus to get to work. I live with my mom, who is also a single mother, and money is often tight between paying for school, child care, etc. I can't thank her enough for helping me on the nights I had to work and for everything she has done for me and my son, including putting us first.
I worked six (sometimes seven) days a week, but was able to keep a 3.9 GPA and raise a healthy, wonderful little boy with her help. I know that WOW is behind me as I enter my third year of college and I am so grateful for an organization that is willing to support hard working women like myself.

I know that I am a great mother and have big hopes and dreams for myself and my son. This scholarship will motivate me to strive for excellence during my junior year and beyond. I know that a degree is going to be very important in my life and my son's life.

I hope to someday give back to organizations like WOW and volunteer my time wherever there is need. I have been so moved by WOW's kindness and will certainly pay it forward. Thank you so much WOW, I will never forget your support and encouragement.
