WOW Another Letter of Appreciation

I was so surprised when I heard that I was chosen for the 2009 WOW scholarship! After applying for numerous scholarships and having little to no luck, my spirits lifted when I heard the message Susan left on my answering machine informing me that I had been chosen. I know money is tight for my family and for many other families because of the economy today. At times the thought of being a young, single mother who is entering college in the fall can be quite overwhelming. Questions such as where will I take my son for daycare while I’m at school circulate in my mind. Not only that, but how will I pay for my son’s daycare while I’m at school? I believe in myself and know that I am a strong woman, mother, and student. God has a plan for me and I have to trust that he will make everything work out for the best.  I want to thank Susan and everyone at WOW for also believing in me and for helping me carry out my dreams.

This scholarship will help me with my first year of college tuition at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, where I will be majoring in Dance. I am so grateful for an organization that stands behind single mothers and gives them credit for being strong, wonderful individuals. Instead of criticizing or looking down on single mothers, this organization reaches out to them and helps them. I am extremely thankful for this opportunity and I hope to someday start my own organization to benefit single mothers as a way of giving back for this award. WOW has given me hope that if I believe in my dreams, they will come true. Thank you, I will never forget your kindness.
